Join our RES UK York Service Centre, as our Thermal Spray Operator you will be working with various ferrous and non-ferrous metals to repair heavy industrial components from a wide range of industries for the York Service Centre 
The Service Centre works across multiple industry sectors and repairs a large array of different equipment and components. No 2 days are ever the same.


In this role you will be accountable for:

  • Operation & programming of Thermal Spray coating equipment for repair and manufacture of components
  • Programme and operator Thermal Spray coating equipment – consisting of HVOF, Plasma, Arc & Combustion spray.
  • Use of shot blaster to prepare components in readiness for coating
  • Mask off components in readiness of shotblasting and coating. Final de-masking and cleaning
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and written/verbal instruction
  • Following Standard Operating Procedures and taking accountability for deviations from procedure and maintaining quality control requirements
  • Usage of accurate measuring equipment such as micrometers and verniers


To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A recognised apprenticeship or significant relevant experience. 
  • Previous experience of operating Thermal Spray equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to use applicable hand tools (grinders etc).
  • Use of overhead cranes (training will be given)
  • A strong and dedicated approach to Health & Safety and the desire to positively participate in improving of the Health & Safety culture of the organisation.
  • Numerate, methodical, and practical skills are essential
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Time management skills

Location:  We are based on the outskirts of York you will be close the historic walled City of York, whilst only a few minutes’ drive off the Outer Ring Road and 10 minutes’ drive to the A64, this road connects to the A1M and M1.   York is a city with a lot to offer with, a wide variety of shops, theatres, and fab restaurants. As well as cool bars and a pub for almost every day of the year.
