As a valued member of our Service Centre team, you will contribute to our pursuit of technical excellence and precision in quotations.

 

As an Estimator in our York Service Centre, your responsibilities encompass handling technical estimates and creating detailed quotations. Your meticulous attention to detail and effective communication skills will be instrumental in our success.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Carefully review the technical and commercial specifications provided by the customer, highlighting any critical areas of concern or focus that need special attention.
  • Liaise with customer contacts to gain a thorough understanding of their requirements.
  • Discuss aspects related to the quotation return date, technical scope, commercial terms, delivery expectations, and quality standards.
  • Obtain pricing information from relevant suppliers or sub-contractors as needed for the quotation.
  • Develop a comprehensive technical estimation. This estimation should include structured work scope, budgeted hours, and direct costs.
  • Formulate detailed commercial quotation documents based on the technical estimation.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and sub-contractors during the estimation process.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Previous commercial experience in handling quotations or estimations is preferred. However, applicants with a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles, seeking a new career path, will also be considered.
  • Understanding of mechanical workshop processes and repair principles is essential.
  • Must be a strong communicator, capable of effectively dealing with customers.
  • Comfortable multitasking and adjusting priorities as needed.
  • Conversant with Word, Excel, and Outlook for efficient work.
  • Experience of Salesforce is advantageous.
