R&D Data Scientist - Full Time - Winterthur, Switzerland

We are looking for a R&D Data Scientist to join our CT_Technology & Innovation team in Switzerland.

As part of our dynamic R&D team within the Technology & Innovation organization, you’ll play a key role in developing cutting-edge solutions—from initial concept to commercialization.

 

In this position, your focus will be on digital and data-driven solutions in areas such as biopolymers, separations & purification technologies, bio-based fuels & chemicals, recycling, carbon capture and beyond. Your main tasks and responsibilities:  

 

  • Lead and implement digital & data-driven capabilities for product & process development to solve high impact business problems.
  • Combine data-driven, statistical, classical models and domain experience to drive and accelerate key R&D initiatives.
  • Work in close collaboration with multi-functional project teams to develop digital and data-driven solutions.
  • Develop insights from complex datasets, generate data-driven hypotheses, design experiments and drive the development of optimized products and process solutions.
  • Design and implement end-user data-driven/digital tools for advanced analytics, predictive algorithms and data visualization.
  • Communicate actionable insights using data to a diverse audience across all levels of the organization.
  • Be an ambassador for data-driven mindset across the organization.

 

 

To succeed in this role, you will need: 

 

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering/Process Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in applied data science in the chemical/process engineering domain preferably in polymers, separations & purification, catalytic or renewable process development.
  • Experience in exploratory data analysis with scarce and multidimensional data.
  • Experience in mechanistic/black box/hybrid modelling approaches to combine data science methodologies with engineering knowledge (i.e., for kinetic and process modelling & optimization).
  • Highly proficient programming skills, preferably in Python is a must, experience in end-user tool development is a plus.
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken. German is a plus.
  • Willingness to occasionally support hands-on data collection from the lab/pilot-plant/manufacturing operations.
