Polymer Application Technician - Full Time - WinterthurSwitzerland

We are looking for a Polymer Applications Technician, who will support internal and customer trials for the Polymer Applications group. You will conduct pilot plant trials and analytical tests on resulting products and will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of machine, plant, and warehouse inventory management. 
This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting edge projects, support customer trials, and contribute to the advancement of sustainable polymer technologies. 

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:  

 

  • Conduct Analytics:
    • Perform analytical support to characterize physical and chemical properties of thermoplastic polymer products including sample preparation using techniques such as DSC, mechanical testing, rheology, TGA. biodegradation…
    • Analyze data and provide reports on experimental findings.
  • Support Customer Trials and R&D projects: 
    • Assist in setting up and conducting customer trials at compounding lines, injection moulding lines or film lines.
    • Conduct literature research and prepare simplified experimental designs.
    • Provide technical expertise and troubleshoot issues during trials. 
    • Collaborate with customers to understand needs. 
  • Machinery and Equipment Maintenance:
    • Maintain and troubleshoot various machinery and equipment used in polymer applications.
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is in optimal working conditions.
    • Assist in the implementation of safety protocol and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Warehouse Inventory Management:
    • Manage inventory of raw materials, chemicals, and equipment used in various activities. 
    • Monitor stock levels, order supplies as needed, and keep accurate records of inventory.

To succeed in this role, you will need: 

 

  • Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Chem Engineering, Materials Science, or related.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience working in a laboratory, R&D or plant setting, preferably in polymer applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and analytical instruments. 
  • Attention to details, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks. 
  • Teamwork, organizational talent, communication
  • Fluency in English and German
