Head Group Environment, Safety and Health (ESH) - Full Time - WinterthurSwitzerland

As our Head Group Environment Safety and Health (ESH), you will be leading our safety agenda and the ESH initiatives with direct impact on keeping our employees safe, promoting wellbeing and reducing our carbon footprint.

 

Reporting to the Chief Sustainability Officer who is also the Chief HR Officer and member of Sulzer Executive Committee, you will be accountable for:

 

  • Setting a clear ESH direction, establishing objectives for the company and for the divisions and making sure safety plans are in place to keep reducing Accident Frequency Rate and Accident severity rate. You will also define the safety audit agenda and follow-up on all audit reports.
  • Having regular touchpoints with the ESH community to ensure that the ESH goals are understood and supporting the ESH organization towards achieving these goals.
  • Securing the Environmental data collection on greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, waste and water consumption. You will work in collaboration with the Head of Real Estate to suggest improvement plans to reduce our carbon footprint.
  • Ensuring that our new reporting system (Intelex) is optimized and supporting its growing adoption amongst internal users.
  • Reporting data on Environment and Safety to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.
  • Taking an active part in establishing the Sulzer Sustainability roadmap and closely collaborating with the communication team on our annual sustainability report.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Proven track record of improving safety and environmental footprint in your former companies
  • University degree in engineering or production and/or relevant experience within related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience in machine industry with production and equipment development
  • Experience as Safety Engineer/Auditor and/or Environmental Officer/Auditor
  • Know-how of global ESH data collection tools such as Intelex, SAP etc.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in relevant laws and regulations (ESH and machinery safety)
  • Solid experience in project management and in risk management tools
  • Experience in leading large remote team of indirect reports
  • Fluency in English
  • Passion for safety and sustainability
  • Ability to influence without positional power and have demonstrated collaboration skills
  • Superior analytical skills and are comfortable with numbers and data analysis
  • A direct, precise and concise communicating style
  • A high energy level
  • Readiness to travel
