Sulzer Pump Solutions Ireland Ltd is part of our Water and Industry Business Unit which aspires to develop - among others - products and solutions that support water recycling in s sustainable energy efficient way. here are 270 people employed in the Sulzer Company based in Wexford.  

 

This role is to support SPIRL manufacturing in its annual goals and longer-term strategic vision through Manufacturing Engineering focused  primarily on the critical Performance Test Beds within the plant. Work closely with our local Operations teams, Product Development teams and with other Sulzer sites with similar Performance Testing Beds.

 

We are looking for a/an Manufacturing Engineer - Product Performance Testing  to join our FE_WIBU  team in Ireland .

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:  

 

  • Take ownership of all SPIRL Product Performance Test beds.
  • Maintain, update and program as required all test software systems. 
  • Define new test duty points when required.
  • Create and maintain the matrix for all products currently tested on each test tank, and provide solutions for interchangeability to ensure no Single Points of Failure for any products on any test tank.
  • Be a Lead in First Pass Yield improvement in testing - Work closely with Quality and Engineering on any Corrective Actions / Root Cause investigations in relation to product performance testing.
  • Become Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the field of Product testing and the testing process. Research new and modern product test methods and equipment and ensure Sulzer Ireland keeps pace with industry standards in this area.
  • Coordinate with other Sulzer sites in relation to Test beds and provide knowledge sharing and support.
  • Using test data, drive Continuous Improvements in terms of reducing waste in Sulzer Ireland testing processes. Work with Product Development and Product Managers to identify opportunities for improvement to reduce testing needs while maintaining customer expectations.
  • Conduct operational support activities aligned to Quality Systems Corrective Actions / Root Cause.
  • Support New Product Introduction projects. Ensure the cost-effective integration of new products and the improvement of existing products into manufacturing operations. 
  • Implementation of Product Improvement Projects through Engineering Change process.
  • Implementation of Capital Projects in relation to Test Beds. Coordinate all project elements including engineering design, quality planning, manufacturing, installation, & commissioning.
  • Actively partake in Strategic A3 projects.
  • Drive and lead continuous improvement opportunities by engaging in Tier Meetings and proactively supporting the site Continuous Improvement System by conducting major step change improvements.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need: 

 

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience with demonstrated ability in problem solving and task completion.
  • PLC programming essential.
  • Experience programming Labview test software. 
  • Experience in Control Systems required.
  • Root Cause Corrective Action - knowledge of the tools and applications.
  • Principles in Fluid Mechanics is an advantage.
  • Performance Testing knowledge & Test standards ISO 9906 is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of SAP ERP System is an advantage.
  • New Product Introduction knowledge is an advantage.
  • B.S. Degree in relevant Engineering discipline with strengths in Control Engineering. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office package.
  • Knowledge of Draftsight / Solidworks / NX is an advantage.
  • Experience in Production Operatons environment.
  • Understaanding of Value Streams and ability to conduct Value Stream mapping is an advantage.Waste Identification and Reduction - knowledge of Lean tools and applications in everyday industry.
  • Waste identification / business cas and payback on Capital projects.
  • Financial justification / business case and payback on Capital projects.
  • Project Management experience (e.g A3).
