At our Sutton-in-Ashfield Service Centre, we lead the way in delivering world-class electro-mechanical repairs and overhauls for the UK Rail Sector – ensuring the reliability and safety of the trains that keep our country moving.
A key part of this is precision winding. From traction motors to auxiliary systems, expertly rewound motors are essential for keeping fleets operational, efficient, and on schedule. Every coil, every turn matters and that’s where our skilled team makes the difference.
We are looking for an experienced Winder/Fitter to join us, helping maintain the highest standards in motor rewinds and repairs for our rail customers.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Dismantle, rewind, reassemble, and test single-phase and three-phase AC motors, small DC motors, and associated equipment including pumps and gearboxes
- Carry out incoming inspections for damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions to set procedures
- Prepare and inspect all reusable parts for rewinding
- Operate specialised winding and testing equipment such as winding machines, surge testers, and core-loss testers
- Complete all job documentation, including photographs, accurately and on time
About you
- Recognised electrical engineering or electrical machine repair & rewinds apprenticeship (or equivalent)
- Proven experience dismantling, rewinding, assembling, and testing AC/DC motors
- Experience with a wide range of mechanical and electrical rotating equipment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and commitment to quality
