Due to continued growth at our Southampton Service Centre, we are excited to announce the creation of a brand-new Estimator role. This is your chance to truly make the role your own, with the opportunity to shape its future. As well as providing general rotating equipment services, Sulzer is the leading independent service provider for the marine sector, offering repair services for vessels including cruise liners, naval and passenger ships, tankers, offshore production and support vessels, and dredgers. Globally recognised for our expertise in servicing high-voltage generators and motors, as well as reengineering and manufacturing components like coils, Sulzer delivers technical excellence. Our Southampton Service Centre provides a comprehensive range of services for large rotating electrical equipment, from inspection and maintenance to rotor and stator rewinds, mechanical repairs, and more. We pride ourselves on fast response times and delivering top-tier service both on-site and in our workshop.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Carefully review technical and commercial specifications provided by the customer, identifying critical areas of focus.
  • Liaise with customers to fully understand their requirements.
  • Discuss quotation deadlines, technical scope, commercial terms, delivery expectations, and quality standards.
  • Obtain pricing from suppliers and sub-contractors as needed for quotations.
  • Develop comprehensive technical estimates, including structured work scopes, budgeted hours, and direct costs.
  • Create detailed commercial quotation documents based on technical estimates.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and sub-contractors during the estimation process.
  • Ensure smooth transition from estimation to execution in the workshops.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Previous commercial experience in handling quotations or estimations.
  • A solid understanding of mechanical workshop processes and repair principles.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with customers effectively.
  • The ability to multitask and adjust priorities as needed.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Salesforce is advantageous.
