Product Engineer - Full-Time - Portland (OR), US.

Join our global team to grow your expertise and develop innovative solutions that enable a prosperous and more sustainable society. The Product Engineer will focus on the Large Vertical Turbine Pumps and review/complete pump orders; generates and maintains product Bill of Materials; designs and coordinates the fabrication of components as required based on pump order/BOM.

 

We are looking for a Product Engineer to join our FE_WIBU team in Portland, OR.


 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:  

 

  • Responsible for following and enforcing Sulzer's 6 Safety Rules.
  • Generation and maintenance of Product Bill of Materials utilizing company MRP system.
  • Design of components including fabrications and machined components utilizing 3-D CAD product development software, ensuring production procedures efficiently utilizes materials and personnel.
  • Provide technical product knowledge assistance to sales engineers.
  • Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but includes a variety of complex features, including devising new approaches to problem solving 
  • Lead creation and implementation of engineering and operations process improvement projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to perform design tasks with both functionality and cost effectiveness in mind.
  • Provide production support to fulfill a customer's order requirements.
  • Must understand the need to complete projects with accuracy and attention to detail within set deadlines.
  • Follow procedures according to ISO 9001.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need: 

 

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Special technical knowledge about rotary pumps and related services, experience on managing global product development projects, good knowledge of the Sulzer Pumps product data management systems and mode of the operations.
  • Experience with machine design working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Auto CAD Inventor and/or I-DEAS CAD programs.
  • Utilizes standard engineering concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with various people and departments.
