Job Responsibilities / Position Information for Field Service Engineer:


Job Description:

Field Service Engineer (FSE) shall be part of the field service team at PSC which is responsible to service various customers in Houston and the gulf coast in activities including but not limited to testing/troubleshooting of electrical rotating machines. It is the FSE’s responsibility to integrate into the team seamlessly, assuring compliance with SEMS policies, procedures and best practices.  

The FSE is required to be familiar with both electrical and mechanical concepts to fit into the rotating electro-mechanical industry. FSE must assist in daily shop production in the absence of field service projects, with, in-shop machine testing, following up with projects, customer communications and work with O.L. to develop and streamline the planning, scheduling and execution of work.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Provide technical support and assistance on customer requests - on phone and on site.
  2. Carry out unplanned on-site services and troubleshooting on electrical installation incl. electrical rotating equipment (motors and generators).
  3. Prepare and perform planned preventive maintenance checks (PM) on electrical machines incl. AC/DC motors and generators, using applicable tools.
  4. Receive and study any relevant engineering documents related to a project to formulate project roadmaps. 
  5. Observe, follow and support all Safety Policies, Environmental Policies and ISO Procedures
  6. Manages and oversees tasks as assigned by O.L.s.
  7. Responsible for developing innovative processes and procedures using the latest technologies to support business growth.
  8. Attend weekly production meetings.
  9. Help develop field service procedures for various fault case scenarios.
  10. Maintain accurate and up to date notes of the projects FSE is involved and furnish reports as required immediately after the conclusion of the project or as requested by the customer.
  11. Communicate with the O.L.s, and field service team members, as necessary regarding the progress of a project.
  12. Immediately follow up on customer requests by doing the need-full to resolve the issue in the most efficient way possible.
  13. Be part of the quick response team, to provide service/updates to the customers as soon as possible.
  14. Stay in constant communication with O.L. to be able to assist in shop projects as required.
  15. To learn repair procedures which may be task specific from the Senior Colleagues and implement and improve on it.
  16. To communicate to the team as required regarding customer specific directives on milestones to be achieved in a course of the project.
  17. Must be enthusiastic to cross the boundaries of current technical expertise to learn more.


Miscellaneous Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure proper tooling is available to perform all field tasks effectively.
  2. Order/replace any stock parts or spares used in the field.
  3. Provide relevant information to the quotation department regarding the project for quotes.
