We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer (Process Simulation and Carbon Capture Technology) to join our Technology and Innovation team in Oberwinterthur, Switzerland.


 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:  

 

  • Drive and perform process simulations for projects and proposals in the CCUS field, including the development of Process Flow Diagrams, energy and material balances, equipment sizing, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, and the derivation of process and environmental performance metrics
  • Assume full responsibility for the design and scale-up of equipment and units that maximize the process efficiency
  • Coordinate pilot tests for solvent-based carbon capture and implement results to validate and optimize process solutions 
  • Apply your innovative thinking to conceive and assess patentable inventions related to Sulzer technologies
  • Support the continued improvement of in-house process design tools
  • Contribute with expert advice and/or train colleagues in process simulation based on the team’s and Technology & Innovation Unit requirements and provide inputs to the team conducting cost estimations
  • Issue detailed process packages to be used by the Business Unit in charge of the different projects and support them for technical queries

 

To succeed in this role, you will need: 

 

  • Proven expertise in process simulation (e.g., Aspen Plus, ProTreat, OLI, MATLAB etc.) and in reviewing and developing process engineering documentation such as P&ID, PFD, mass and energy balances
  • Experience in process design and engineering with focus on CCUS technologies, particularly solvent-based post-combustion carbon capture with deep understanding of the physics and chemistry of the process
  • Knowledge in separation technologies and plant design
  • Experience with pilot testing and implementing R&D results into industrial applications
  • Good understanding of overall technology development and qualifications
  • Knowledge in process safety – chemical safety, ATEX, etc.
