Join our Bio-based R&D team within Chemtech division in Switzerland as Junior R&D Polymer Reaction Engineer to help us take our Bio-based and Renewable Applications to the next level. 

 

You will actively participate in diverse and exploratory work in the field of R&D to facilitate the technology development of sustainable processes for bio-based materials processing and production. Your tasks will include synthesis and characterization of bio-polymers and bio-monomers, design and implement mathematical models and simulations, execution of customer trials, and support of internal R&D projects.

 

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:  

 

  • Actively participate in experiments ranging from lab to pilot scale, supporting R&D engineers in bio-monomer production and bio-polymer research.
  • Design and implement mathematical models and simulations to support scale-up activities and industrialization
  • Analyse experimental and process data to extract insights and support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Develop automation tools and scripts to streamline R&D workflows.
  • Document methodologies, results, and technical findings in clear, structured reports.  

 

To succeed in this role, you will need: 

 

  • Laboratory experience in conducting organic chemistry experiments and polymer synthesis.
  • Reaction Engineer knowledge of simulation tools and modelling environments.
  • Proven experience in scientific computing and data analysis using MATLAB and Python.
  • Strong understanding of numerical methods, optimization, and statistical analysis.
  • Excellent English. German, Italian, and French are an asset.
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks, strong sense of organization, independent work organization, team, and customer oriented.
