We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Mechanical Supervisor to join our team in Maitland, NSW. In this role, you will supervise workshop personnel and oversee the overhaul, refurbishment, repair, and maintenance of customer equipment. Your leadership and technical expertise will ensure efficient operations and high-quality outcomes.

 

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:  

 

  • Lead, manage, and mentor departmental personnel.
  • Maintain and enhance customer relationships; gather and share customer feedback with sales and management.
  • Assist the Works Manager with recruitment, training, development, performance management, discipline, motivation, and safe working practices of department personnel.
  • Identify training needs and ensure department personnel are up-to-date with all Work Instructions.
  • Document jobs to ensure health and safety compliance and quality assurance.
  • Quote and estimate jobs as designated by the Works Manager.
  • Understand departmental workflow and collaborate with personnel on job scheduling and resource allocation to achieve maximum efficiency and economy.
  • Control job flow through the department, including scheduling, setting priorities, providing progress updates, and maintaining productivity.
  • Attend meetings and actively contribute to business development.
  • Revise department job schedules according to work order specifications, established priorities, and the availability and capability of workers, parts, materials, machines, and equipment.
  • Compile reports as required.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need: 

 

  • CERT III in Mechanical or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the repair and overhaul of gas and/or steam turbines.
  • Knowledge of processes and procedures for mechanical plant repairs.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
