Come and join Sulzer UK as our Legal Manager. We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Legal Manager to work in a dynamic UK-based legal team servicing the UK, Ireland and Nordic-related operations of a market-leading manufacturing and engineering company. You will be an experienced lawyer with a strong background in advising a variety of stakeholders (including sales, tendering and project management) on commercial contracts and general legal issues, preferably in the energy, oil and gas, construction, or renewables industries. 
You will enjoy managing an interesting and diverse workload and working closely with senior management and key business stakeholders to deliver business-critical results. You will be comfortable leading contractual negotiations with large customers while balancing legal/commercial risk with company objectives.

In this role you will be accountable for:

  • Negotiating contracts in compliance with Sulzer’s contract/risk management procedures
  • Reviewing standard form contracts (e.g. NEC3, LOGIC) and providing concise mark-ups
  • Advising on general UK corporate compliance matters
  • Providing legal support to Sulzer’s finance, HR and procurement teams
  • Supporting Sulzer’s project management team with project-related matters 
  • Providing legal risk management training to Sulzer’s UK businesses
  • Visiting Sulzer’s UK-based service centres to ensure consistency of advice


To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Degree qualified in law or comparable work experience, you will have extensive experience advising on commercial contracts issues and in preparing contractual documentation
  • Commercially focused, used to working with senior management and key stakeholders
  • Experienced in leading customer negotiations 
  • A willingness to work in a fast-paced business, delivering accurate legal advice in a commercial context

Location: Hybrid working –  office based in Birmingham or Leeds, including UK & International travel as required.
