Purpose of the Role
As the Planning Team Leader, you will manage daily work centre operations and produce shop floor plans to keep production running efficiently. You will balance workloads across production areas, ensure plans are achievable, and lead and motivate your team to meet key performance targets. This role requires strong organisational skills, leadership abilities, and experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities

  • Oversee capacity management and ensure shift patterns and capacities are up to date in SAP.
  • Provide detailed 2-week, quarterly, and annual production plans for operational cells.
  • Align planning actions with project schedules, supporting smooth and timely operations.
  • Implement and manage KPIs to track progress and ensure the department meets key targets.
  • Lead and motivate your team, ensuring roles and responsibilities are effectively actioned.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need

  • Proven experience in production planning or scheduling, ideally within engineering or manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Experience with planning systems, including SAP (PP modules).
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and a proactive approach to process improvement.
  • Experience in the engineering and manufacturing industry, ideally working with one-off products.
  • IOSH qualification and familiarity with safety leadership practices.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a solutions-focused mindset.
  • Strong decision-making abilities and the capacity to build good relationships within the team.
