As part of the Product Development team at Sulzer Pumps, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the performance and reliability of some of the world’s most advanced engineered pumps. Sulzer Pumps is a global leader in pumping solutions for critical applications across industries such as energy, water, oil & gas, chemicals, and renewables. This role is based at our Advanced Pump Design and Manufacturing facility in Leeds – a centre of excellence where we design and manufacture some of the largest and most complex pump packages in the world. With a strong focus on sustainability and innovation, our Leeds site supports a global customer base and offers engineers the opportunity to work on technically challenging and meaningful projects that make a real-world impact.

 

You’ll collaborate with our global Product Development teams, leveraging industry expertise to enhance, standardise, and refine both existing and new product ranges. Your work will be impactful, spanning from developing 3D parametric design tools to optimising our pump designs for superior performance. The role offers a mix of 3D and 2D design work, design calculations, and technical documentation. To succeed in this role, a curious mindset and a high degree of self-motivation are essential. You’ll need to proactively seek opportunities for innovation while managing complex tasks independently.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Support the development and standardisation of existing products through 3D and 2D design
  • Create and maintain parametric design tools, models, and supporting documentation
  • Carry out design calculations and compile technical reports for new and existing products
  • Collaborate closely with hydraulics and analysis teams to integrate results into designs
  • Lead design reviews and provide technical training and support across departments

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong experience with 3D/2D CAD tools 
  • Ability to produce clear design documentation and technical reports
  • Experience in rotating equipment or a similar industry is desirable
  • A curious mindset and strong self-motivation, with the ability to drive innovation and solve complex problems independently
