Control & Instrumentation Engineer - Full Time - LeedsUnited Kingdom

 

Sulzer Pumps UK is a Top Employer based in Leeds and we are looking for someone to join and strengthen our design team as a Control & Instrumentation Engineer. 

 

You will help to managing the portfolio of the C&I (Control & instrumentation) design projects from order receipt through to site installation.  This is a unique chance to join a leading organisation, contribute to a cutting-edge initiative, and make a real impact on the future success of Sulzer.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all design, processing, and supporting activities for the assigned product range, including, where appropriate, pre-sales support
  • Preparation and issue of C&I (Control & instrumentation) related documentation including P&I (Piping & Instrumentation) Diagrams, wiring schematics and control diagrams/narratives, together with the specification and requisition electrical and C&I (Control & instrumentation) equipment, all in line with design, manufacture, and customer requirements
  • Manage the specification of factored equipment and sub-contract services such as control & monitoring panels, application software, commissioning, and electrical, control, and instrumentation materials
  • Applying cost-effective solutions and ensuring costs are controlled within estimates provided at the tendering stage
  • Attend kick-off and order launch, design review, and HAZOP (Hazard & Operability Analysis) meetings with both clients & suppliers 
  • Support a wide range of complex pumping applications and complex pump packages including motor and gas turbine drivers, gearboxes, and fluid couplings

 

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • HNC or equivalent in electrical/electronic engineering
  • Knowledge of controls and instrumentation products 
  • Ideally experienced in all aspects of panel design, from initial tender through to on-site support
  • Excellent IT skills and proficient CAD user, Siemens NX, AutoCAD &/or EPLAN preferred
  • Relevant experience within related industry ideally Oil and Gas 
  • A flexible approach to work with excellent attention to detail skills
  • A willingness to solve problems and improve processes
  • Team player, hands-on approach, capable of building new relationships
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to change
