Purpose of the Role

As an Assistant Accountant, you will work closely with our Accounting team to support a wide range of financial activities. This placement offers hands-on experience in producing financial reports, researching accounting standards and tax legislation, managing governance and credit control, and supporting internal controls.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing financial reports (e.g., income statements, balance sheets).
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations.
  • Assist with tax compliance matters, including tax analysis and PAYE Settlement preparation.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and perform data entry.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Support internal control activities and ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards.
  • Carry out any other duties relevant to the post.

  • Good communication skills and ability to manage internal stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on sense-checking work.
  • Understanding of financial reporting processes.

 

Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge

  • Currently studying towards a bachelor’s degree, with an interest in a career in Finance.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in MS Excel (skills will be tested during interviews).
  • Experience with SAP is advantageous.

 

Decision Accountability

  • Producing accurate financial data and research.
  • Meeting deadlines for financial reporting.
  • Supporting the Accounting team in various tasks.

 

Performance Measurements

  • Timely organisation of cost control and departmental meetings.
  • Accurate and punctual completion of monthly forecasts and reports.
  • Material master reviews completed daily.
  • Cost centre absorption and utilisation reports delivered within agreed timelines.
