Join our Services_AME team within Services division in United States as Technical Representative / Engineer to help us take Turbo Services to the next level.
Sulzer is a non-OEM rotating equipment repair facility located in the Houston area. Sulzer is comprised of several divisions that include the Component Repair Division. Departments within the Component Repair division include Combustion, Stationary, Mechanical, Rotating, Fuel/Flow and Inspection Departments. Each department is dedicated to refurbishment of gas turbine components and sub-assembly parts.
In this role you will be accountable for:
- Be knowledgeable of and enforce safety in all aspects and areas of the position, and with fellow co-workers throughout Sulzer’s various environments, includes those of our customers and vendors.
- Project Management – Managing multiple projects from various aspects to meet departments monthly deliverables and budgets.
- Proficiency in all MS office software; particularly with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
- In-shop (and at times off-site) evaluation and reporting on components.
- Generate repair quotations (hours & material)
- Generate repair work scopes in Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Inspection and repair work scope development, review, evaluation, and periodic adjustment.
- Fixturing and tooling design and innovation.
- Inspection and repair method development and innovation.
- Reverse engineering and part design improvement.
- Develop customer specific and driven scopes.
- Creation of incoming and outgoing disposition reports.
- Creation and development of inspection and repair forms, repair specifications, written process specification, and component drawings (2D/3D prints and models).
- Work with department supervisor and shop technicians to ensure process, repair, and tooling viability. As well as to optimize, refine and streamline production workflow.
- Order materials for jobs – Specify material from vendors – Write Purchase Orders and follow up on these Purchase Orders to ensure delivery will be on time.
- Develop industry knowledge about competition, vendors, and gas turbine advancements applicable to Sulzer’s business.
- Attend bid meetings / Interact and have good communication with Customers.
- Work with inside / outside sales representatives and have good communication with them.
- Work with drafters to develop and maintain drawings, inspection forms and prints.
- Work on and manage special projects per manager’s instructions.
- Develop tooling, processes, documentation, and specifications for flow testing IGT components.
- Help maintain and improve flow test equipment.
Some of the special projects or responsibilities may include such items as:
- Manage projects for plant outages / travel to plant sites
- Manage large scale projects that span internal Sulzer divisions, and Sulzer’s vendor network.
- Create Gantt charts to organize projects and illustrate schedules.
- Develop presentations and present at conferences, trade shows, or for webinars.
- Manage / Operate welding systems, flow test equipment, vacuum furnaces
- Develop automated and improved processes for inspections and repairs
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor of Engineering / Manufacturing degree or equivalent Engineer or Technical level work experience
- 1 or more years hands-on mechanical experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn technical aspects for services and repairs of turbomachinery
- Experience with turbo machinery repair and services is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface with personnel from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Physical ability to work in a shop environment
Location: We are based in La Porte (TX).
Working Hours: Weekdays (day shift) 7AM to 5PM, 1 Hour lunch 12PM – 1PM. Weekend supervisor duties on a rotating schedule. Hours for weekend supervisor duty vary but will not exceed 12 hours per day.
