We are looking for a Assembly Mechanic to join our Core team in La Porte.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:  

 

  • Safely and efficiently disassemble, thoroughly inspect, and precisely build rotating equipment such as steam turbines, gas turbines, compressors, hot gas expanders, gear boxes and other machinery according to Sulzer’s established guidelines and safety protocols.

  • Conduct thorough visual inspections of disassembled components, identifying wear, damage, or abnormalities that may affect equipment performance.

  • Utilize precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, and bore gauges, to take accurate measurements and assess dimensional integrity of parts.

  • Operate overhead cranes, torches, grinders, and forklifts when required.

  • Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings and measurements.

  • Execute unit assembly of repaired or replaced components, following technical specifications and quality standards.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need: 

 

  • 3 years of hands-on, shop oriented experience turbomachinery repair preferred.
  • High mechanical aptitude and experience in detailed mechanic industries (turbines, compressors, rotating equipment)
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
  • Must be able to use precision measuring instruments.
