DIVISION:              Big Bay                                FLSA STATUS:    Non-Exempt




The purpose of this document is to outline the job responsibilities of a Machinist in Big Bay.



  • Use all available knowledge and skills to achieve the best possible machining job within the given guidelines of the procedure manuals and the instruction of Big Bay Division Supervisor/Superintendent.
  • Assist the Big Bay Division Supervisor/Superintendent in any way required to ensure productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Develop and perform set-ups on rotors and parts holding specific tight tolerances.
  • Proficient use of indicators, calipers, micrometers and other various precision measuring tools.
  • Needs knowledge and proficient use of precision measuring tools and be able to indicate to specifications within .0001".
  • Document and qualify all work performed.
  • Maintain workplace in a clean, safe and organized manner.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Read and understand the required technical information for the job.
  • Practice lean principles in daily work and participate in Big Bay LEAN events.
  • Comply with the requirements of risk assessments and safety procedures.
  • Proactively engage and support company initiatives designed to promote a culture of safe working, environmental protection and continual improvement.
  • Use PPE as identified in risk assessments or other related safety documents.
  • Do not undertake activities that have not been risk assessed, or where an assessment is not available or understood.
  • Report any instances of spillage, uncontrolled exposure or other related safety issues to their line manager.
  • Ensure the correct use of waste segregation facilities and the efficient use of natural resources and raw materials
