As a Trainee Estimator in our Ipswich Service Centre, you’ll be supported in learning to handle technical estimates and create detailed quotations. Your enthusiasm for learning, attention to detail, and communication skills will be key to your success as you grow in this role.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Review customer specifications with guidance, identifying critical requirements and areas of focus.
  • Communicate with customers to understand their needs and clarify details.
  • Work with team members to determine quotation timelines, technical scope, commercial terms, delivery expectations, and quality standards.
  • Learn how to obtain and assess supplier pricing information for quotation purposes.
  • Assist in developing structured technical estimations, including work scope, hours, and direct costs.
  • Help draft commercial quotation documents based on the technical estimation.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and sub-contractors throughout the estimation process.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A basic understanding of mechanical workshop processes and repair principles is beneficial but not required.
  • Any experience in a commercial role, such as purchasing or internal sales, would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with team members and customers.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Familiarity with Word, Excel, and Outlook is advantageous; training on other systems, including Salesforce, will be provided.
