Senior Sales & Use Tax Accountant - Full Time - Houston (TX)United States

 

Join our FE_Energy  team within Flow Equipment  division in United States as Senior Sales & Use Tax Accountant to help us take our company to the next level. 

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Use Vertex Returns program to prepare, analyze and file indirect tax returns in forty-five plus US states and Canadian provinces. Set up additional tax jurisdictions as needed. File and pay electronically where available
  • Compile state sales & use tax data from Vertex reports and SAP accounts receivables and payable invoice data
  • Handle requests for sales & use tax information including applicable taxability and rate determinations
  • Compile legal entity sales by state reports quarterly to monitor nexus requirements
  • Maintain and file all customer records, sales tax reports and documents including resale certificates and proof of export
  • Compile documentation for sales & use tax audits and correspond with state and local tax auditors as required
  • Prepare property tax renditions and payment requests
  • Reconcile general ledger state sales & use tax accounts. Prepare and post all adjusting and accruing sales tax journal entries
  • Regular and reliable attendance

 

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience required. Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred 
  • Minimum 5-8 years of multi-state sales/use tax and property tax experience required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; strong attention to detail and accuracy in reporting
  • Enterprise Resource Planning system experience required. SAP preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience using sales/use tax automation software. Vertex strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet required deadlines
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
