Come and join the Falkirk Service centre and be part of our Workshop team as our Machinist. If you are highly motivated, organised, and have a keen eye for detail with a technical background working with a variety of lathes, turning centres and borers you can help us take Sulzer Services UK to the next level. 

 

Our Service Centre works across multiple industry sectors and repairs a large array of different equipment and components. No two days are ever the same and this role will provide a large amount of variation and allow you to challenge yourself daily. In this role you will be accountable for:

  • Dismantling and assembling of motors, gearboxes and pumps
  • Measuring and recording build tolerances and ability to determine parts that require repair
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, machining centres, borers, and grinders.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed components in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications
  • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic turning & machining centres and machining tools in order to perform precision machining operations
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process

 

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A recognised Mechanical engineering apprenticeship or City and Guilds qualification, or equivalent
  • Experience with working with all types of mechanical (electrical – motor components) rotating equipment.
  • Previous demonstrable experience within a mechanical (electrical) workshop environment
  • Experience preferred in dismantling and assembly of motors, gearboxes and pumps.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements 
  • Full and valid driving license is preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to change
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team

Location: Falkirk is a large town in the Central Lowlands of Scotland, historically within the county of Stirlingshire. It lies in the Forth Valley, 23.3 miles (37.5 km) north-west of Edinburgh and 20.5 miles (33.0 km) north-east of Glasgow.
