Sulzer's Aberdeen Service Centre in Ellon is a premier facility specialising in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of a diverse range of rotating equipment. We are currently experiencing significant growth in our electrical inspection and control panel manufacturing business. As such, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager - Electrical, Control & Instrumentation. Sulzer designs, manufactures, and tests control panels with powerful, unique features built-in as standard against client specifications. As Project Manager, you will oversee both in-house and field-based activities related to the design, build, and implementation of these control panels as well as industrial electrical projects such as Atex inspection and general installation and fault finding.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of EC&I projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and to the highest quality standards.
- Direct the design and build of pump controllers and control panels, leveraging Sulzer’s unique and powerful standard features.
- Take ownership and accountability for the tendering of projects, ensuring appropriate commercial risk management and project profitability.
- Ensure seamless integration and functionality of control panels through effective coordination of in-house engineering and manufacturing activities.
- Manage installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems at various client sites.
- Work closely with clients to understand their requirements and provide tailored solutions that enhance the performance of their pumping stations.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Prepare and present regular project updates, including progress reports, risk assessments, and mitigation plans
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence within the project team.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A strong background in control panel design, manufacturing processes, and field-based implementation.
- A formal qualification in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with Atex systems is preferred, with a formal qualification such as CompEx Ex01-Ex04 being advantageous.
- Experience in project management is advantageous but not essential.
- Experience in using customer relationship management tools such as Salesforce is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively liaising with clients and internal stakeholders.
