Master Machinist- Night Shift - Full Time - Easley (SC)United States

 

Join our Industry  team within Flow Equipment  division in United States as Master Machinist- Night Shift to help us to the next level. The master machinist is responsible for machining all pump components in a production environment. Knowledge of all pump types is critical. The machinist works under limited supervision to set-up and operate machine tools without assistance while following company policy and work instructions. This master machinist position will include the ability to set-up and operate horizontal CNC machining centers, manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and the water jet. Other essential functions will be to operate CNC lathes and balance machines to produce impellers and shafts for production to meet on-time delivery demands. The machinist role will be on night shift.  

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • This role is on Night Shift, Monday-Thursday, 4pm-2am

  • Deburr and Balance impellers to part print by work instruction.

  • Operate and set-up all necessary machine tools required to produce parts to print specifications such as CNC lathes and horizontal machining centers, manual lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders and water jet operations.

  • Ability to build tooling and fixturing for manual set-ups.

  • Perform quality checks per work instruction.

  • Maintain production flow of impellers to meet on-time delivery for the Vertical and Horizontal value streams.

  • Takes corrective action and moves from machining to balancing as necessary.

  • Follows quality procedures according to ISO 9001.

  • Safety obligations: 

    • All employees understand and can explain the structure and objectives of the SBP.

    • All employees follow the safety rules.

    • All employees have "the right and duty to intervene" in the event a safety concern becomes evident. In addition, acceptance of an intervention should be accepted in a positive manner as it could have prevented an accident.

    • All employees are required to comply with all work instructions, policies, and posted signs or instructions regarding safety, including proper use of required PPE at all times.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning and organizing of work areas (5S Standards)
  • Perform preventive maintenance outlined by PM sheets from the Maintenance department.
  • Work Overtime when assigned by the department Supervisor
  • Assists other team members as directed, including training, and assisting less experienced coworkers
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong customer focus.

  • None

 

What you bring to Sulzer:

  • Associate Degree/Certification in machining or 5 years machine shop experience

  • Manual machining experience 

  • Intermediate knowledge of computer and mobile operating systems including Android, Apple, and Microsoft Office

  • Must have good written and oral communication skills

  • Must be able to use micrometers and other measuring equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs (excess of 50 lbs, use of slings, hoist or cranes required)
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time (up to 12hrs)
