Summary: Promotes the sales and service of Sulzer Pumps (US) Inc., products and accessories to established and new customers by providing technical and commercial proposals in response to inquires, and interfacing between customers and company facilities, following written policies and procedures.


Essential Functions:                                                                                                             

  • Sells Sulzer Pumps (US) Inc. products and services to established customers
  • Finds and develops new customers and new areas within existing customers
  • Negotiates orders including all technical, commercial and legal details to the mutual satisfaction of customers and the Company
  • Calls on prospective customers and maintains contracts with customers in relation to their requirements.
  • Secures and renews orders, arranges delivery dates and other peripherals integral to selling
  • Travels to customer locations to insure close and regular face-to-face contacts.
  • Entertains customers during and outside normal business hours on a regular basis consistent with expense budgets and good business practices.


Secondary Responsibilities:                                                                                                                                 

  • Maintains sales program within the territory based on customers’ estimated requirements for the time period.  Keeps records and makes reports to all involved of all phases of activity as appropriate.
  • As requested, actively pursues overdue customer invoices in a highly professional manner.
  • Supports and cooperates in the company-wide Total Quality Management (TQM) effort .
  • Pays special attention to alliance customers to insure all needs are satisfied.
  • Keeps informed on new products or services and other general information to interest to customers
  • Refers any customer complaints to proper departments of the company and follow-up to ensure satisfactory resolutions for all concerned.
  • Ensures all interested parties, internal and external of the Company, are aware of trends and developments in pumps, pumping systems and markets.
  • Maintains company supplied vehicle and other assets.  This includes keeping vehicle and other assets clean.
  • Maintains good cross-discipline relationships within the Company
  • Maintains membership and is active in organizations related to pump industry.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None



  • Minimum three years experience in quoting, marketing or engineering of pumps.
  • Excellent written, verbal, negotiation and interpersonal skills in the English language without supervision or oversight.
  • Strong knowledge of pumps, applications and hydraulics
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with little direct supervision
  • Outgoing personality
  • Ability to accept rejection and still maintain a positive attitude
  • Valid state driver’s license with good driving record
  • Proficient in math and computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Strong ability to utilize technical knowledge and analytical skills to resolve problems and objections from both internal and external forces.
  • Willingness to travel overnight (vehicle and air) on a regular basis averaging 80% of the time.
