SUMMARY:
The Controls Technician assembles, inspects, cleans, repairs, calibrates, tests equipment systems and controls, builds new control systems andfabricates control panels.

Control Technician with experience at building industrial motor control panels and PLC systems.

 

 

REPORTS TO:

Operations Leader, Control Department

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs work as an Industrial Electrician wthin electric panels, systems, and wiring up to 480V.  Demonstrate the ability to use a voltmeter properly to identify voltage, amperage and resistance of an electrical circuit.
  • Develop the ability to build an industrial control panel from Sulzer CAD drawings, project drawings and Bill of Material and revise drawings as needed to depict actual build.
  • Layout control panels per drawings and specifications, mounting of components into enclosures, wiring control panels following AutoCAD schematics, and light metal fabrication.
  • Perform testing on panels to ensure proper working order
  • Responsible for the ping and receiving of Project materials and completed panels
  • Work with Safety as a top priority and actively support goal of establishing a zero-incident safety culture
  • Effectively work in a team environment
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Perform other related tasks, as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • High school degree or an approved GED
  • Education in electronics or industrial electricity preferred,  but not required
  • Ability to communicate effectively and timely on any issues or problems
  • Ability to utilize various hand tools, cutoff saws, torque wenches, impact wrenches, grinders and drill motors
  • Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack
