Journey Level Welder - Full Time - Chattanooga (TN), United States

 

Join our Services_AME  team within Services division in United States as Journey Level Welder to help us take our Tennessee operation to the next level. 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate welding and cutting equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Read and interpret weld procedures, work orders, and technical drawings to meet specifications.
  • Apply knowledge of metals and alloys, including stainless and carbon steels.
  • Prepare, fit, and finish parts to customer specifications, including pipe, pressure vessels, and structural components.
  • Perform pump component repairs, including defect excavation, weld build-up, and overlay.
  • Plan and execute work operations independently based on weld procedures and job requirements.
  • Maintains a safe, neat, and orderly workstation        
  • Maintains welding equipment as required to keep machines in good operating condition and maintains welding supplies and consumables in appropriate storage environment per specifications 
  • Assists in the disassembly, inspection, and re-assembly of pump equipment when required    
  • Communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow transitions between team members.  
  • Support and assist coworkers, including training and collaboration.
  • Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide safety program which includes
  • following all safety policies and procedures.        
  • Supports and cooperates in Sulzer Nuclear Quality Program.          
  • Performs other duties as assigned.        
  • Works overtime as requested.
  • Operates forklifts, overhead cranes, man lifts, and scissor lifts.        

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Completion of a welding apprenticeship program or equivalent training preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in welding, cutting, and fabricating metal and alloy components.
  • Proficiency in GTAW, SMAW, and FCAW welding processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and apply knowledge of welding equipment and filler materials.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment weld performance qualification to ASME Section IX standards using GTAW in the 6G position.
  • Ability to produce welds that meet nondestructive testing standards, including VT, MT, PT, RT, and UT.
