Environmental Safety & Health Specialist - Full Time - BurnabyCanada

 

Join our Services_AME team within the Services division in Canada as our Environmental Safety & Health Specialist to help us take our team to the next level. 

 

How you will Contribute:

As an integral member of our team within your role as our Environmental Safety & Health Specialist, you will develop, implement, and maintain environmental safety and health programs for our offices and manufacturing facility. You will provide assistance to all areas to achieve compliance with regulatory agencies in order to minimize safety hazards while promoting a safe and healthy work environment.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Maintain the facilities program and certification for the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
  • Coordinate, conduct and document health, safety and environmental training programs; this includes safety orientation for all new and transferring associates.
  • Manage activities of the safety committee and safety teams, safety audits, ergonomic improvement projects, emergency response planning, safety and environmental training.
  • Review and revise as needed the health and safety program; coordinate the first-aid personnel responsibilities.
  • Act as case manager and return to work coordinator for all WorkSafeBC cases, oversee any light duty programs, and support associates currently in the program.
  • Conduct incident/accident investigations to identify root causes and to identify opportunities for accident prevention.
  • Compile necessary safety reports, including analysis of incidents, injuries and illness including but not limited to frequency, causation, severity and costs.
  • Ensure required emergency response planning has been conducted and implemented.
  • Coordinate training of both office and shop employees as required.
  • Acts as team member/co-leader and liaison for the facilities environmental and sustainability initiatives. Coordinate the requirements, reporting, testing and disposal of materials.
  • Maintain and lead hazardous, solid, and special waste management programs.

 

To succeed in this role:

The ideal candidate will have at minimum 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing industrial setting. A degree or diploma, or relevant experience combined with education in a safety/health/environment related field such as OHS practitioner diploma, Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation (CRSP), National Construction Safety Certification (NCSO), or nursing program, preferred. 

 

Experience and/or education in the following are considered assets:

  • WHMIS, first aid/CPR Certified and familiarity with documented Quality and ESH programs
  • Transferrable experience in manufacturing, construction, military, medical or other industry-related fields
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations
  • Computer skills (MS Office® products)
