Sulzer, a global leader in fluid engineering with over a century of expertise in pumps, agitators, compressors, and rotating equipment, is expanding our Bristol Service Centre in Portbury. Specialising in optimising customers' pumping processes and enhancing the reliability of rotating machinery, Bristol is integral to our Services UK & Nordics operations.

 

As Service Centre Manager, you will have full responsibility for the Bristol Service Centre, overseeing all functions. While this is a strategic leadership role, it demands a hands-on understanding of every aspect of the operation. You will be expected to know the ins and outs of the service centre inside and out, and lead with a thorough grasp of both high-level business strategies and day-to-day operations. Our ideal candidate will be just as confident in the boardroom making strategic decisions as on the shop floor, actively engaging with teams to drive performance and solve challenges.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Oversee all functions of the Service Centre, from strategic planning to operational execution, ensuring alignment with Sulzer’s objectives.
  • Drive profitability and business growth through strong commercial leadership, with an in-depth understanding of operational details.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor, ensuring full visibility and engagement with the team, while leading the business from top to bottom.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing management team, maximising operational capability and ensuring strong health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between resources, operational capacity, and customer requirements through effective Sales and Operations Planning (SIOP).

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Proven leadership experience within an engineering, service, or aftermarket environment.
  • Demonstrated success in leading management teams and overseeing all aspects of business operations, including, HR, Health & Safety, and Quality.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience in business growth, financial management, and delivering P&L results.
  • Extensive experience in business strategy development, transformation, and market expansion.
  • Familiarity with LEAN/Continuous Improvement practices
