As we expand our steam turbine and compressor business in mainland UK, we are looking for an experienced Technical Field Authority to join our team and play a key role in our growth strategy.

Role Location:

This UK-based role offers flexibility, allowing you to be based anywhere in the country while travelling nationwide to assess potential workscopes and manage live projects. Your HQ will be our state-of-the-art service centre at Birmingham Business Park, near Birmingham International Airport. This cutting-edge facility features advanced additive manufacturing and digital technologies, reinforcing our leadership in rotating equipment repair. It also houses one of the UK’s largest independent high-speed balancing facilities, along with the country’s only independent overspeed balancing pit—further enhancing our ability to support critical industries. Travel to other service centres and customer locations will be required.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities: 

  • Assess prospective job opportunities, develop detailed work scope specifications, and outline project timelines and resource requirements.
  • Supervise field service personnel and subcontractors on-site, ensuring safety, task assignment, and quality control during dismantling, inspection, and reassembly activities.
  • Liaise daily with clients, providing progress updates, technical recommendations and adapting the planned workscope to accommodate emergent findings.
  • Ensuring compliance with inspection requirements and project schedules.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager and other stakeholders to support tender cost creation, manage equipment and tooling supply and mitigate potential program impacts.
  • Lead site teams with hands-on involvement in inspection work, rebuild activities equipment start-up and re-commissioning - both on-site and in workshops.
  • Prepare and finalize all project documentation, including reports, QA packs, and recommended spares lists in collaboration with the Project Manager.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in a Technical Field Authority or similar field supervisory role, managing both client and site teams.
  • Expertise in turbo services, steam turbines, or multistage compression equipment, including dismantling, repair, reassembly and re-commissioning.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) for work preparation, reporting, data recording, and program management.
  • Good understanding of the UK turbo services supply chain to support on-site and in-works service repair activities.
  • Experience in personnel management
