 Sulzer Birmingham is currently in the process of expanding and is actively looking for skilled Mechanical Fitters/Electric Motor Winders to engage in maintenance activities related to a variety of rotating equipment. Take part in this exciting opportunity at our cutting-edge facility!

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Rewind and repair a variety of electro-mechanical equipment, specializing in small AC/DC motors and associated equipment like pumps and gearboxes.
  • Execute maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of rotating equipment, including pumps, turbines, compressors, motors, and generators.

  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify issues and assess the condition of rotating equipment, ensuring compliance with quality standards.

  • Skillfully dismantle and assemble rotating machinery, replacing or repairing components as needed.

  • Utilize a range of specialised repair and testing equipment, including winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, and various tools.
  • Complete all required paperwork, including photography documentation, for each job accurately and in a timely manner, contributing to seamless workflow and comprehensive records.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A recognised Engineering apprenticeship, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Proficiency in dismantling, assembling, and troubleshooting various types of rotating machinery

  • Demonstrated previous experience in dismantling, rewinding, assembling, and testing AC/DC motors is advantageous.
  • Demonstrable track record in a mechanical/electrical workshop environment, showcasing practical skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements, ensuring a secure work environment.
