Through an extensive network of over 100 service sites worldwide, Sulzer delivers cutting-edge parts and maintenance solutions for a wide range of rotating equipment. We are currently expanding our steam turbine and compressor business within mainland UK and are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team, playing a pivotal role in our growth strategy.

As an Estimator, you will be instrumental in converting client specifications into detailed project costings, ensuring scope accuracy and optimising Sulzer value for our clients. Your expertise will directly influence our ability to secure and manage critical projects, driving our success in the UK market.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities: 

  • Handle initial customer Requests for Quotes (RFQs) and efficiently manage data entry within Salesforce.
  • Analyse client specifications, identify key areas of focus, and ensure a thorough understanding of requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Technical Field Authorities, and clients to align on bid strategies, technical scopes, and commercial terms.
  • Develop detailed technical estimates, incorporating work scopes, budgeted hours, and direct costs.
  • Liaise with suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain pricing and support technical procurement.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate issuance of tenders, assisting the Commercial team in formulating competitive quotations.
  • Manage order acknowledgements, ensuring alignment with client quotations and contractual agreements.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Ideally, you will hold a recognised qualification in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Strong experience in Steam Turbine/Compressor services - site inspection and rebuild activities in addition to workshop reclamation and repair processes.
  • Familiarity with service and repair supply chains.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) and the Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project.
  • Ability to multitask, work accurately under pressure, and adapt to emerging demands.
  • A strong customer service ethos, with the ability to balance client needs with Sulzer’s commercial objectives.
