Sulzer Services UK & Nordics is looking for an experienced Electrical Duty Holder to oversee compliance and safety standards across our UK Service Centres. This is an autonomous role where you’ll manage your own diary, plan your visits, and ensure our sites operate to the highest electrical safety standards.

 

Our Service Centres are the beating heart of Sulzer’s operations. They specialise in repairing, maintaining, and upgrading rotating equipment, including pumps, motors, turbines, and other critical industrial machinery. These facilities support sectors like energy, water, chemicals, and manufacturing, ensuring reliability and efficiency for essential infrastructure across the UK.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities: 

 

  • Act as the appointed Electrical Duty Holder under UK legislation, ensuring compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations and BS7671.
  • Develop and maintain safe systems of work for electrical activities, including statutory inspections and testing.
  • Audit electrical installations and prioritise corrective actions based on risk.
  • Oversee maintenance programmes for electrical equipment, including fixed plant inspections.
  • Assess competency of employees and contractors for electrical work.
  • Maintain consolidated records for inspections, testing, and compliance evidence.
  • Collaborate with Service Centre Managers and site deputy duty holders to drive continuous improvement.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need: 

 

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Duty Holder in industrial or engineering environments.
  • Strong knowledge of UK electrical legislation and standards (Electricity at Work Regulations, BS7671).
  • Familiarity with electrical machinery testing, infrastructure, and associated systems.
  • Excellent organisational and auditing skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Qualifications such as:
    • HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (Desirable)
    • IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition)
    • City & Guilds 2391-52 – Inspection & Testing of Electrical Installations
    • City & Guilds 2382 – Electrical Installations
