SUMMARY:

Supervises assigned staff in the design and installation of quality control process sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques.  Designs or specifies calibration, inspection and testing mechanisms, and related equipment.  Position functions independently with occasional guidance from the Manager Quality Assurance.

  •  Coordinates personnel needs and assigns work to meet completion dates

  •  Organizes and stores reports for results of inspection, testing and investigations

  •  Reviews, approves, and finalizes closed out non-conformance reports

  • Issues and monitors cause and corrective action reports
  • Presides over daily Material Review Board meetings to ensure disposition of non-       conforming materials
  • Performs examination of parts, fabrications, purchased items and assemblies
  • Maintains calibration program for all measuring and test equipment
  •  Performs NDE (VT, PT, MT)

  • Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide LEAN and EHS Management System which includes following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.  Supports and cooperates in company-wide Quality Management effort.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of subordinate coworkers.  Responsibilities include:  management of coworkers duties; ensuring compliance with established quality programs; trains and maintains inspector qualifications; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining coworkers; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 10 years’ experience in quality control methodology or related fields
  • Working knowledge of NDE practices, M&TE and instrumentation calibration, and auditing
  • Ability to read blueprints, knowledge of ANSI Y14.5M-1982 geometric tolerance, and versatility in all aspects of inspection technique
  • Good math and shop trigonometry skills
  • Good oral and written communication and organizational skills
  • Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office applications
  • 10 years’ manufacturing knowledge (Journey-level Machinist preferred)
  • Associates degree or equivalent technical degree, or Certification of Recognized Quality Organization (ASQ/SNTC-1A) preferred
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
