Join the Sulzer Service UK in Avonmouth as our CNC Machinist.  If you are highly motivated, organised, and have a keen eye for detail with a CNC Machining background you can help us take Sulzer Service UK to the next level.


Avonmouth Service Centre works across multiple industry sectors and repairs a large array of different equipment and components. No two days are ever the same and this role will provide a large amount of variation and allow you to challenge yourself on a daily basis


In this role you will be accountable for:

  • Working in safe manner and in line with our business objectives 
  • To be able to read detail planning/process sheets
  • To be fully conversant with reading and understanding engineering drawings 
  • Operate and show experience of working more than one of the following CNC machine tools: Medium and Large size Centre Lathes and Milling machines 
  • Good knowledge of modern tooling and manufacturing processes
  • Online / Offline Programming


To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Must have served a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical engineering
  • Must be able to show college qualifications (City & Guilds or NVQ)
  • Experience in General Turning, Boring, Screw cutting, General milling, Keyways, High precision machining
  • To be conversant with either Alfa Cam or Master Cam offline Programming
  • To be conversant with SolidCAM/SolidWorks Programming
  • To be conversant with either Fanuc, Fagor and/or Heidenham Control Systems
  • To be able to carry out Offline Programming using SolidCAM/SolidWorks
  • Ensure Quality documentation such as Project Routers are followed and completed thoroughly on job completion. 
  • Experience of machining bespoke one-off pieces of work

Location: We are based in Avonmouth with very road links to M49, M5 & M4. Avonmouth Train Station is just a short 10-minute walk from the Service Centre. Just under 10 miles away, Bristol city centre offers a superb taste of culture, food, history, and fantastic shopping opportunities
