We are looking for an Expeditor / Buyer to join our Procurement team in Allschwil. 


The successful candidate will be responsible for Post-Order Management to facilitate "on-time" delivery of goods and services, drive cost-effective solutions and ensure the smooth operation of our procurement processes. Building and maintaining strong strategic partnerships with key suppliers of components, key equipment as well as engineering and manufacturing services (regionally and globally) will also be a key element in this role.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:  

 

  • Negotiate contracts with awarded vendors in line with preferred suppliers’ lists.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and mitigate risks.
  • Monitor supplier performance in terms of cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Issue and keep purchase orders updated in SAP.
  • Coordinate schedule requirements with external suppliers and Sulzer key functions.
  • Manage the RFx process, and lead selection and award recommendation process with project team.
  • Monitor and manage internal and external expediting as per project requirements.
  • Schedule quality acceptance and inspections visits according to agreed schedule.
  • Manage expediting from project team location, via designated project team members at supplier facility, and/or by supplier visits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, operations, and finance to identify procurement needs and align strategies with business objectives.
  • Drive supplier selection, evaluation, and development initiatives to ensure a robust and reliable supply chain network.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need: 

 

  • Business and/or technical qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, ideally in an international/global environment. 
  • Proven track record of successful expediting and execution of procurement in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Fluency in English and German.
  • Great relationship management and negotiation skills.
  • Impeccable time-management, with the ability to adapt to changing schedules.
  • Strategic thinking and understanding of risk management.
  • Very good team player.
