Sulzer Aberdeen (Ellon), is seeking Electric Motor Winders to rewind and repair single-phase, three-phase AC motors, and small DC motors. Excel in meeting high standards, tight deadlines, and surpassing customer expectations, while also engaging in mechanical fitting work. Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Rewind and repair a variety of electro-mechanical equipment, specializing in small AC/DC motors and associated equipment like pumps and gearboxes.
  • Conduct incoming inspections using established procedures to identify damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions in electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Document all relevant data related to the unit’s electro-magnetic characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage, or intended serviceability, ensuring comprehensive records.
  • Prepare reusable parts for rewinding and meticulously inspect renewed parts for hidden or unusual conditions, ensuring the highest quality standards.
  • Utilize a range of specialised repair and testing equipment, including winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, and various tools.
  • Complete all required paperwork, including photography documentation, for each job accurately and in a timely manner, contributing to seamless workflow and comprehensive records.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A recognised Electrical Engineering or Electrical Machine Repair and Rewinds apprenticeship, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated previous experience in dismantling, rewinding, assembling, and testing AC/DC motors.
  • Proficiency in working with various types of mechanical rotating equipment, particularly with electrical motor components.
  • Demonstrable track record in a mechanical (electrical) workshop environment, showcasing practical skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements, ensuring a secure work environment.
